Tokyo Comic Convention Co., Ltd. (CEO: Takehiko Goto) has announced the details of its first dance event, which will be held during “Tokyo Comic Convention 2024” (hereinafter referred to as “Tokyo Comic Con 2024”), taking place over three days from December 6 (Friday) to December 8 (Sunday) at Makuhari Messe in Mihama Ward, Chiba City.

A New Signature Event at “Tokyo Comic Con 2024！？

Tokyo Comic Con, a celebration of pop culture featuring interactions with overseas celebrities including Hollywood stars, exhibitions of movie props, live performances on stage, and opportunities for cosplayers to connect, is set to offer a variety of engaging content once again this year. Among the many exciting events planned, we are thrilled to announce the inaugural dance event, “American Comic Costume Dance Festival feat. avantgardey”!

With the dance scene from the movie Deadpool & Wolverine generating buzz and drawing attention to dance culture, this event will showcase a unique fusion of American comics and dance.

Participation requirements are as follows:
●The music used must be from American superhero movies, dramas, or anime.
●Participants must be in groups of two or more, all wearing matching uniforms or coordinated outfits (cosplay is also acceptable).

This event, highly anticipated as a new signature attraction of “Tokyo Comic Con,” welcomes applications from both professionals and amateurs! After a rigorous selection process by the Tokyo Comic Con Executive Committee, several groups will be invited to perform amazing dances on the main stage, where numerous celebrities have appeared in the past!

Special Appearance by “avantgardey”, Finalists from “America’s Got Talent,” Confirmed!

To enhance the excitement of this event, we are thrilled to announce the special appearance of the dance team “avantgardey”, known for their breathtaking performances that left the judges of the hugely popular American talent show “America’s Got Talent” in awe! Avantgardey has stated, “We are excited to participate in the first Tokyo Comic Con official dance event, the American Comic Costume Dance Festival! On the day of the event, we might showcase a special performance to the theme songs from American comic movies and dramas! We hope you all join us! Avantgardey Profile

Avantgardey is a dance team formed under the direction of choreographer Akane. Established in February 2022, they have gained popularity worldwide on TikTok and Instagram as the “mysterious uniform bob group.” In 2023, they advanced to the finals of America’s Got Talent. With a total social media following exceeding 3 million, they have garnered attention not only domestically but also from international audiences.

Recruitment Details:
We are seeking multiple groups to perform on the main stage of “Tokyo Comic Con 2024” (Makuhari Messe, Chiba Prefecture) on December 8 (Sunday). The performance schedule will be announced later.

Open to anyone, both professionals and amateurs.

Application Method:
Follow the official Tokyo Comic Con TikTok account ( https://www.tiktok.com/@tccocccomiccon ) and post a dance video of at least 30 seconds on your own TikTok with the hashtag “#東京コミコンダンス”.

Results Announcement:
Results are scheduled to be announced around November 10. After a thorough review by the Tokyo Comic Con Executive Committee, the selected groups will be notified directly about their performances on stage.

・Submitted performances must be original and previously unpublished, both domestically and internationally.
・By submitting your work, you agree to the transfer of rights.
・Performances on the day of the event will be limited to three minutes.
・Transportation and accommodation costs to the venue are the responsibility of the participants.
・Benefits for contest winners are valid only for the respective groups and are non-transferable.
